Golf Gifts For Him

Callaway Paradym driver

Few golf gifts this holiday season will be as well-received as the Paradym driver from Callaway. That’s because it’s one of the more innovative offerings for golfers of all abilities. The company used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to come up with the carbon-body design, which is noticeably lighter than a comparable titanium head. From there, the R&D team positioned more discretionary mass around the head for added stability and forgiveness on mis-hits. In addition, the company’s “Jailbreak” structure—thin bars behind the clubface connect the crown to the sole—works in concert with a new AI-designed forged titanium face to rachet up ball speed across the face. And who couldn’t use more power and forgiveness off the tee? With a 15-gram sliding weight in the back of the head, players can fine-tune shot shape to suit their game. Great news-this item is also now $100 lower in price!

TaylorMade Stealth 2 driver

The original Stealth driver set the industry ablaze with its groundbreaking carbon-composite clubface. In the Stealth 2, the new and improved face weighs two grams less than its predecessor, has a thicker center and is lighter around the perimeter. Varying the thickness in the back of the face helps increase the club’s level of forgiveness. More specifically, it produces comparable ball speeds on mis-hits and center strikes, so misses suffer less of a dramatic drop-off in distance. By using twice the carbon in the body as the previous generation, the Stealth 2 also has more weight low and toward the back of the head to tighten shot dispersion. And, like the earlier model, there’s a protective layer of textured polymer over the carbon face, and internal ribbing that contributes to the powerful impact sound. Lastly, the aerodynamic sole allows players to potentially swing faster. Happy Holidays to you—this award winning Driver is now $100 off!

Odyssey Ai-One 7 S putter

For the past few years, Callaway has been using Artificial Intelligence (AI) when designing full-swing clubs. Now its sister company, Odyssey Golf, has utilized AI to engineer an insert for the first time in the new Ai-One putters. The result is more consistent ball speed across the face, which means more reliable putts, even on slight mis-hits. Even Tour players often miss the center of the putter face while putting, which negatively affects distance and direction, and for regular golfers, it’s a constant issue. The Ai-One 7 S, a midsize mallet head with fangs (for extreme perimeter weighting), has a short, slanted hosel that’s best suited for strokes with a lot of face rotation and arc. Players can expect the grooved face to feel similar to the soft White Hot insert. As an added bonus, removeable weights (5, 10, 15 or 20 grams each) in the heel and toe give golfers the ability to customize the head to their liking.

FootJoy Men’s DryJoys Premiere Series – Field Spikeless shoe

The Premiere Series golf shoe by FootJoy oozes style and performance, and comes with a heritage unlike any other shoe in the game. Made from high-end, full-grain Pittards leather, the spikeless Field model boasts textured, soft Calfskin leather accents for added pizzazz along the upper part of the shoe. In addition to the two-year waterproof guarantee, the novel VersaTrax+ sole design has multi-directional, thermoplastic nubs for superb traction regardless of the playing conditions. The outsole features both soft and hard nubs for different surfaces. Players can expect all-day comfort, support and stability due to the cushioned footbed, heel cup and Laser Street last (which consists of a rounded toe, standard fit in the instep and forefoot, and slightly narrower in the heel). The shoe comes in a variety of color options, including brown/grey, white/light grey, white/red, white/white/black or black, in either medium width (D) or wide (2E).

Walter Hagen Men’s Perfect 11 Midweight 1/4 Zip Golf Pullover

Walter Hagen Golf, one of Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy’s in-house private label brands, continues to offer a full range of smart-looking apparel at more palatable price points than the country-club brands. The Midweight Quarter Zip is a great option for golfers who like to play in cooler temperatures. With built-in thermal insulation, the pullover retains heat so your body won’t get chilly, or stiffen up, during the round. Plus, the garment is roomy in the shoulders with stretchable fabric so players can swing with full range of motion. The Quarter Zip comes in several fun colors, including Deep Merlot, Forest Pine, Daybreak Blue, Grey Sky or Navy Blue. Based on the color, the sizing can run from small to XXXL, as well as “tall” sizes in XL to 4XL.

Golf Gifts For Her

Top Flite Women’s XL 12-Piece Complete Set

Full-set “starter” sets (also known as “box sets”) remain a terrific option for golfers who are getting into the game, as well as those who are returning to it after being away for a while. That’s because you get an all-in-one package—full set of clubs plus golf bag—at a very affordable price, with great technology that matches the typical clubhead speeds and swing characteristics of this type of player. One of the more popular box sets, the Top Flite Women’s XL 12-piece set, includes nine clubs, lightweight stand bag, and a couple of headcovers. The club lineup consists of the 460-cc titanium-composite driver (which offers a 12.5-degree clubhead loft that helps add height to tee shots) with matching headcover; a matching 3-wood with headcover; a 5-hybrid; five stainless-steel, cavity-back irons (6-iron through pitching wedge); and a midsize mallet putter. Each club has a graphite shaft (except for the steel-shafted putter). The matching bag comes with a dual strap to make carrying easy, plus three pockets for storage. Makes for a wonderful all-in-one gift for the budding female player in your life.

CALIA Women’s Soft Scuba ¼ Zip Golf Sweatshirt

The ultra-chic-yet-comfortable CALIA brand of lifestyle and golf apparel for women has taken the game by storm in the last two years, with golfers of all ages, sizes and playing abilities swearing by the fun and functional designs. The Soft Scuba ¼-Zip Golf Sweatshirt looks and feels super soft, allowing players to stay warm and cozy on the course as the days get cooler. The sweatshirt also doubles as a great layering piece if you’re running around town doing errands. It’s a comfortable, relaxed fit that’s never bulky or oversized, thanks to the cropped design and high mock-neck collar. The material (51% polyester, 25% modal, 20% cotton and 4% spandex) provides plenty of movement in the shoulders so you can swing with no restrictions, while the elastic cuffs keep the sleeves from sliding up and down. The sweatshirt comes in White, Black, Light Blue, Grey, Lilly and Lemon Sorbet, in an exciting range of sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 1X, 2X, 3X).

New Balance & CALIA Women’s 327 shoe

During the 1970s, New Balance had a classic running shoe called the 327. These days, the company’s golf division has a new 327 combining a retro look with plenty of cushioned support for the modern woman golfer. The present-day model has a waterproof microfiber leather upper to keep feet comfortable and dry throughout the round. Meanwhile, the rubber, spikeless outsole features more than 70 nubs for gripping power, regardless of the lie. As part of the throwback design, the lugged outsole rises from the sole to envelop the back heel and toe area of the shoe’s upper, all of which makes the 327 a fun, stylish item to have in your collection. It comes in medium width (B) and in sizes 6 to 10, which include half sizes.

TaylorMade 2021 TP5 golf balls

First things first: The TP5 golf ball from TaylorMade is not just for women—it’s for all golfers who want to play a high-end tour model that’s plenty long off the tee and can dance on scoring shots into the greens. But it’s a ball that many women golfers don’t splurge on for themselves and should, since it performs so much better around the greens for slower swing speeds as well. Headlined by a large, lively core, the first four layers of the five-piece ball get progressively stiffer, which helps to produce more ball speed on full swing shots. Meanwhile, the fifth layer—soft, cast urethane cover— enables players to generate lots of spin and control on partial wedge shots where stopping power, and precise distance, are key. The ball also features a new dimple pattern that’s more aerodynamic than in the previous TP5, so shots can stay in the air longer and carry farther.

Gifts For The Golfer Who Has Everything

Callaway 2022 Chrome Soft balls

You’ll never go wrong by gifting your favorite golfer a dozen or two of these premium balls. Designed for players of all abilities, the Chrome Soft went through a redesign in 2022. That same year, it received a Golf Digest “Hot List” Gold medal. Players who haven’t tried it should expect the three-piece ball to feel pleasingly soft due to the re-engineered core and softer urethane cover (much softer than the previous version). Given its cover composition, players can also expect tour-level spin and control around the greens, while the core helps generate faster ball speeds and more carry distance. For the nominal fee of an extra $2 per dozen, you can choose to personalize the Chrome Soft balls as a fun gift detail with up to three lines of text in red, green, blue or black.

Bushnell Tour V6 Shift rangefinder

One of the most trusted brands in sports optics, Bushnell is also widely regarded as a leader in the golf rangefinder space. The Tour V6 Shift, an 8.7-ounce laser rangefinder, provides yardages to objects as far away as 1,300 yards, with accuracy within one yard. When aiming the device at a target (i.e., the flagstick, a tree, a greenside bunker, etc.), you’ll know it’s locked in when the unit vibrates in the hand. At the same time, you’ll also see a flashing red ring appear through the eyepiece. The built-in “Slope” technology factors in yardage change for uphill or downhill shots (the Slope function can be turned on or off by sliding a small button, so you’re not using it in competition). The unit also has a magnetic strip on it so players can attach it to the golf cart when not in use.

Rapsodo MLM2PRO Mobile Launch Monitor & Golf Simulator

As mobile launch monitors continue to become smaller and less expensive, while simultaneously offering better and better features to capture your own swing data, more average golfers are taking advantage of these powerful practice tools. The MLM2PRO™ from Rapsodo is a real gem because it’s both a launch monitor and golf simulator. Its capabilities as a launch monitor include measuring clubhead speed, launch angle and ball speed, plus calculating readings for smash factor, descent angle and carry distance. What’s more, golfers can program the type of ball they hit (premium or range balls) and location for uber-accurate results. The built-in two-camera system and Doppler Radar enable players to view slow-motion GIFs at impact, so they know whether they’ve struck the ball with the center of the clubface, the heel or the toe. Plus, golfers can watch their own swings on video and see ball flight with shot-tracer technology. The MLM2PRO™ also doubles as an at-home simulation device, where users can choose from more than 30,000 courses to play in the comfort of their own home.
